The Career and Professional Development Center is proud to announce the launch of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) with over 600 new members. NSLS is the largest leadership honor society where invited students are encouraged to complete a series of leadership development activities for induction into the society. The organization has more than 525,000 members with nearly 500 college and university campuses nationwide. The Co-Advisors work alongside the Executive Board to encourage student engagement and leadership development within the organization. The steps you need to complete are as follows:
- Orientation: the first meeting that occurs each semester and will give you access to all the information you need about the program in order to successfully complete the steps for induction as a member.
- Leadership Training Day: a 3-hour interactive video training session with a workbook designed to help you identify and overcome any obstacles that may interfere with obtaining your goals. This introspective seminar helps you to recognize your strengths and weaknesses, in order to shift your focus toward your real passions.
- Three speaker broadcast events: you will watch some of the world’s most successful motivational speakers discussing topics related to leadership, identifying goals, facing challenges, personal growth, and successfully transitioning from college to career.
- Three Success Networking Team meetings: bring together groups of students that work together and provide peer coaching on achieving goals. You can discuss goals, desires and expectations, set timelines and hold each other accountable for achieving what you want. The Success Networking Team provides members with a support network of like-minded goal-oriented students on campus.
Once these are completed, your chapter will invite you to the Induction Ceremony where you will be awarded your Certificate of Leadership (with plaque, if purchased at the time of registration), t-shirt, car decal, and pin. Why should students want to be involved with NSLS? There are many benefits to becoming a member, which include the quality programming mentioned above. Additionally, there are scholarships and awards, access to a job bank, professional communication training, letters of recommendation and much more. Joining this organization is more than a resume enhancer, it is an opportunity to engage in leadership development and become transformed within the process. We look forward to an active involvement of all of the students who were invited to join NSLS and become inducted in May.
